The Late Gamer Plays Halo
A Review From Hidai Moya
Unlike the rest of the world I did not grow up with Halo. I missed out on it back in the early 2000’s & in July 2020 just experienced it for the very first time.
I have no preconceived bias or nostalgia to cloud my judgement when I played this. I was expecting something of a serious FPS in space but honestly, I was turned off by the 1st half of the game. Nothing was ever explained in regards to the conflict or characters & I didn’t understand & didn’t care what was going on. I found the grunts very campy. They almost made me quit, but I’m glad I stuck with it because the 2nd half is considerably better once “The Flood” was introduced & you fight your way through the library (the best level).
It’s at that moment when things really started to pick up for the action & story. One thing that was very clear was that the music in this game shames so many games in comparison. Not the best FPS I’ve played but I liked it enough to continue on to Part II.
