Later Gamer Plays Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds

A Review From Hidai Moya

In my opinion an excellent DLC needs to do three things to succeed:
1) Provide fresh maps to explore.
2) Make the combat more varied by giving players additional abilities.
3) Most importantly to have a meaningful well written quest to warrant investing into the game add on.
“The Frozen Wilds” does exactly that.

Not only are the side quests better written & more emotionally meaningful than the ones found in the main game, but the new Banuk territory, a post apocalyptic version of Yellowstone National Park, is breathtaking. The snowfall, the frozen lakes, the frost covered trees, it’s all so exquisitely beautiful, as if I had stepped through the wardrobe into Narnia.

Furthermore the addition of new mechanical beasts exclusive to the territory add a more difficult & dangerous challenge to combat. This was a spellbinding DLC.

Late Gamer Plays Horizon Zero Dawn

A Review From Hidai Moya

Though imperfect, with room for improvement in the sequel, there is a considerable amount of love & passion that emanates strongly from this game.
It is the dazzling mechanical creatures, apart from its alluring heroine, that are the real stars of the show. The machines here are unequivocally some of the best creatures in gaming history. So incredibly lifelike in their movement, the combined great AI & the best animalistic animations I have ever seen, are a marvel to behold & are a labor of love. This, in turn, makes the combat breathtakingly cinematic, especially when paired with the game’s phenomenal bow, a weapon that makes all other bows near shallow by comparison.
It also has the added advantage of having some of the most beautifully manufactured landscapes of any open world title.
This is the birth of a new & phenomenal must play franchise.

Filmed with 16mm film, The House Of The Devil (2009) is Ti West’s artistic & nostalgic love letter to the subtle horror flicks of the 80’s. Knowing that something bad is brewing for Samantha Hughes, but not knowing what it is, is excellent slow-burn terror.
