Late Gamer Plays Batman – The TellTale Series: The Enemy Within

A Review From Hidai Moya

This second Batman Telltale game does a lot right, but it can not quite stick the landing.
Its first chapter with The Riddler is a fantastic & grim story that borrows elements from the Saw movies. Later on, as it introduces Mr. Freeze, Bane, & Harley Quinn, things start to get really intense as Bruce Wayne infiltrates their criminal ring by befriending them. Bruce being stuck in between a perilous friendship with The Joker while Amanda Waller is riding his ass is great drama. But then as the story begins to end it can not maintain the momentum it needs to satisfy all it has been building up to.
I feel that lifelong Batman fans deserve better endings than some we have already seen many times.
While uneven it’s still a unique & occasionally hairy Batman adventure, worth getting on sale especially to see a unique side of the Joker.

Late Gamer Plays Batman The Telltale Series

A Review From Hidai Moya

As a life long Batman fan I was thoroughly impressed with Tell Tale’s interpretation of the character in this game. At first I thought it was just a cliched story I’ve seen before. I’m so glad I was so wrong. There are some astonishing creative choices that went into this story that give a fresh & vivid new take on The Dark Knight. Though I didn’t think it quite stuck the landing in the finale the story is so good it easily bests any of the stories in any of the Arkham games I’ve played & may possibly be the best story of any Batman video game. Yes, the gameplay itself may be more of an interactive movie than a “true” video game but nevertheless, Tell Tale excels at making the player have a sense of agency with decision making. Anyone who considers themselves a Batman fan must absolutely experience this title. Grade B+
